The castle was built in 1871 and has had something of a chequered history (or rather its owners have)
The Barker family purchased the castle (as a family home) in 1967 and still live there today.
Because there were cruise ships in port there were more tours than usual to the castle.
This meant I could head out on one tour and head back on another.
The castle is pretty special but the gardens are magnificent (and the views are just awesome).
There are nine different gardens which are all spectacular and all worth seeing.
Although the weather was still overcast (and a little drizzly) it didn't stop me from exploring the gardens thoroughly.
Once again took heaps of pictures.

Aaron and I stayed at Lanarch Castle for 1 night during our honeymoon. The rooms are in an adjacent building and we had a magnificant view but we did have dinner in the castle itself and as we were the only ones that night we had the dining room to ourselves which was awesome.
Unfortunately it was so wet and windy that we didn't get a chance to explore the gardens which I would have loved to do.
