Lynette spoke about 2.0 & YPRL.
Themes such as:
- Participation
- Communities
- Whose space
- Shifting the focus
- letting go
- collaboration
emerged as important considerations when adopting 2.0 technology.
- constantly changing environment
- new technologies
- focus on different ways (of doing things)
Showed a photo of Ivanhoe Library's deskless reference desk. There is no physical desk - the librarian has a mobile phone and a tablet pc and roams the shelves helping people.

I like the idea of the Library Worker 2.0 (or 2.1) program.
It 'legitimises' the program and may make some staff who are 'against' 2.0, and all it stands for, realise that this is the way that libraries are evolving.
Telling people that they are using 2.0 as a procrastination tool or as a way of avoiding doing their 'real' work only reinforces the negative perceptions in the minds of staff who overhear such conversations.
YPRL seem to have some good ideas when it comes to incorporating 2.0 into everyday library life. Is it perfect as the presentations make out? Probably not, but the enthusiasm seems to be there.
